Day 2 at FIT

Today in life drawing, we learned about legs and feet and how to draw them. Professor gave us a health class lesson on how the bones and muscles work together, before he taught us to draw them. When I draw, the whole world melts away and it's just me, the pencil, and the model.
I couldn't get the facial features right^^

In Fashion Merchandising and Trend Spotting, we had a little project to do. We had to pick a celebrity who set a trend or a fad and give them a new idea of a style/wardrobe. I chose Bella Thorn because she wears a lot of of floral headpieces. So, I thought she would like to try floral incorporated into her clothing as well. Check it out:

Also in Fashion Merchandising and Trend Spotting, we learned what the mysterious project is. There are four companies in our class -mine is called Jeaba- and each company must forecast upcoming trends for 2015! That's a long time! It's going to be really hard! And we have to base it on a one natural element- "fire" for team Jeaba. At the end of class, we went to the museum at FIT.  At the museum, they had a Retrospect exhibit that was really cool because you got to see how trends from along time ago came back in over time.

Day 1 at FIT

Today was so much fun! In life drawing, I learned that all figures start out with basic  outlines like ovals, circles, rectangles, and lines. I also drew my first actual sketch!
It's not as good as it could be, but it was my first time, so yeah. They had a girl come in and model for us to draw. She stood still for twenty minutes!! She only blinked and breathed! It was soo much fun!
In fashion merchandising and trend spotting, we learned about fads, trends, classics, and the fashion cycle. We have this mysterious project we will do tomorrow. All we know is we have to bring in two black illustration boards, and twenty paint color swatches. Any guesses? Comment bellow.

Concert Wardrobe

This summer is full of fun concerts like One Direction, Maroon 5, or P!nk.  But the hard part is, finding out what to wear. Try rocker chic! It's all about leather, gold, and attitude! From studs to buckles, it's all about how you wear it. Don't let the clothes wear you, you need to wear the clothes. Incorporate your own personal style through jewelry. Lets say your going to a One Direction concert, you can show your support to the band by wearing their logo on a necklace. Or you could put a 1D phone case on your phone. You can do the same with any singer you are seeing.
Although, if you're seeing someone like Taylor Swift or Florida Georgia Line, you don't want to go rocker chic, you would want to go more boho. Try wearing shorty shorts with a fun tank top. Add fun headbands, minimal jewelry, and natural makeup. Boho is all about a more natural side of you.
Have fun at your summer concert!

Abigail

Easy Nail Art

This week I'm trying something new, nail art! This project is fun and easy at the same time.
You need:
-a clean surface
-white nail polish
-black thin brush nail polish
-silver sparkly thin brush nail polish
-neon pink thin brush nail polish
-neon green thin brush nail polish
-dark blue thin brush nail polish

Steps:
1. Add a few coats of white nail polish. Make sure it is not streaky.

2. Using a black thin brush, make a small 'x' in the top of your finger.

3. Using a sparkly silver thin brush, make another small 'x' intersecting the black one.

4. Color in the top and bottom white spaces with a neon pink thin brush.

5. Color in the two outside white spaces with neon green thin brush.

6. Color two remaining white spaces with navy blue thin brush.
Make sure that you have two remaining white spaces on your nail.

The brand of thin brushes I use is called Kiss Nail Art Paint. The white base coat is from OPI.
Enjoy your newly painted nails!!

Country Style

Are you heading out to the country for your summer vacation and can't find what to wear? Try vintage! Cotton is a must have for your vintage outfits. Try a dress with cotton and lace, or cotton with eyelet design! Or simply pair a denim button down shirt with a pair of colorful jeggings. A woven bag is really cute paired with any vintage outfit. Leather shoes look really nice to top off your outfit. But remember, be comfortable, don't wear an itchy dress just because it's vintage. Have fun wherever summer take you!

Too Much Ink

Do u have too many ink color clothes in your closet and need colors to match? Well here's the answer to your prayers. Deep indigo actually makes color really pop. The next time you are stuck with ink, try pairing it with colors such as coral, highlighter yellow, amethyst, or even turquoise. I can guarantee that these colors will brighten your deep indigo, and see the light.

Try Tribal!

CAbi just came out with their new 2013 spring/summer line and I am so excited! My mom sells it, so I pretty much have the whole line at my fingertips. One of my favorite combinations is the Ikat Bella Skirt and the Simple Cami in teal paired with my Forever 21 ankle boots. The outfit is simple, yet playful. It's something I think everybody should have in their closet this spring/summer. The outfit is a bright combination of print and color. The ankle boots really top off the outfit, adding a boho effect.

Abigail

Just Add...

To make your simple outfit stand out in the crowd, add an eye catching necklace. To make your plain outfit pop, add sparkly sandals. All you need is a unique top to take your outfit from drab, to fab! Add an oversized beach bag to your nautical outfit and get ready to hit the shore!Play with bobby pins! Pull your bangs back with colorful or statement bobby pins for a playful look.

Daring Denim

For a chic casual look, pair printed skinny jeans with a simple, neutral tee. For a more casual look, pair a printed, flowy shirt with a pair of deep washed denim shorty shorts. For a sleek look, pair a pair of white denim jeans with a pop of color. Such as, a bright blue blazer or a hot pink blouse. Find the pattern thats just right for you! If your personaliy is bright and bubbly, try neon floral. If you are more shy, try dark blue patterns. If you are outgoing, try a neon color ombre.
